Alex McCann has been practicing law for over 26 years, specializing in employment and personal injury law for more than 16 years. He began his career at a large firm, making partner in only 6 years. His desire to work more closely with his clients, and have the freedom to determine how he helped people, led him to open his own practice in 2002. Because he has 26 years of building a strong professional network, he offers his clients all the attributes of larger firms, with the personal service and flexibility of a small practice.
His passion for helping people, and desire to find justice, is evident in his significant contribution to Maine statutory case law. He has argued more than a dozen cases resulting in new case law creation. Alex specializes in statutory construction, understanding legislative history and legislative intent, which allows him to present and argue cases at an expert level. Alex’s mission is to help injured workers in the State of Maine be heard, be treated with dignity through a difficult process, and come out the other side ready to get on with their lives.
Alex comes from a humble, working-class background, and his parents instilled in him a strong sense of service, giving back to the community, and the importance of helping others. These values shaped Alex into the lawyer that he is today. He truly believes he was wired to fight for working people, and his unique approach to his practice allows him the ability to handle cases on a very individual basis. Every person has a story, and his job in representing people is to let the judge meet that person so they can truly understand the circumstances of the case.
Alex grew up in South Portland, Maine as one of nine children. Being part of a large family meant learning early to work hard. He worked various service jobs through college and graduate studies, and held several positions with members of the legislator. Alex has two adult children, a son and a daughter, and enjoys.
